Install the Index Store software by using the CommCell Console or the installation package that was created from the Download Manager application.
Before You Begin

Review the requirements and gather the information that you must provide during the installation. For more information, see Preinstallation Checklist for the Index Store and Index Store: System Requirements.

When installing the Index Store package for Index Server cloud, install the package on all of the clients that you want to add to an Index Store Pool.
Choose the Installation Method
Use one of the following methods to install the Index Store package:

Remote installations, where you use the CommCell Console to install the software remotely on one or more computers. For instructions, see Installing Commvault Remotely Using the CommCell Console.

Local installations, where you use the installation package to install the software locally on a computer. For instructions, see Installing Commvault Locally on Windows Computers Using the Installation Package.
You can install the Index Store package and the Index Gateway package on versions of the Red Hat operating system for the following use cases:

The Index Server will be used for File Storage Optimization.

The Index Server will be configured with the Exchange Index role to support the Exchange Mailbox Agent.

The Index Server will be configured with the NFS Index role to support NFS ObjectStore.

Add Commvault to the Windows Firewall Exclusion List
If you did not add the Commvault programs and services to the Windows Firewall exclusion list during the installation, you can add them later by using a batch file. For more information, see Configuring Windows Firewall to Allow CommCell Communication.

Complete Network Configurations
If you configured firewall or network settings during the installation, you must complete additional network configurations from the CommCell Console. For more information, see Configuring Network Routes.
