Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage

Use this dialog box to add (or modify) Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage as a storage target.

Option

Description

Additional Information

Name

The name of the Cloud library.

Device Name

A unique device name generated by the system when the library is added.

Type

Select Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage from the list.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage (Infrequent Access) tier can be defined in this Type.

Make sure that the bucket is created with Infrequent Access first in the cloud storage, before adding the bucket as a storage target in this dialog box.

MediaAgent

The name of the MediaAgent to which the device is attached. Select a MediaAgent from the list to add to the cloud storage device. The list contains the names of all the MediaAgents configured in the CommCell.

Access Information

Add the credentials and other details required to access the cloud storage space.

Service Host

The URL of the host providing the cloud storage service. (Commvault transfers data using HTTPS protocol to the service host.)

Default: objectstorage.us-phoenix-1.oraclecloud.com

  • Do not add the bucket name as the service host.

  • Multiple hosts can be added in the Service Host field using commas to separate them. For example servicehost1, servicehost2, servicehost3. (For local cloud servers with multiple IP addresses, the list of IP addresses can be added. For example, 192.xxx.0.100,192.xxx.0.101, 192.xxx.0.102.)

    Note

All the hosts (or IP addresses) in the list must point to the same storage. Adding a host or IP address to a different storage will result in data loss.

Credential

Select a pre-defined credential from the list.

To define a new credential, click the Add New button from the list. The following information is required.

  • Account Type: The account type of the credential.

  • Cloud vendor type: The name of the cloud vendor.

  • Credential name: An user-defined name for the credential.

  • Tenancy OCID: The Tenancy OCID (Oracle Cloud Identifier).

  • User OCID: The user's OCID for a user that has permission to connect to the Oracle web console.

  • Fingerprint: The private key's fingerprint.

  • Private key: The private key file to be uploaded.

Make sure that the PEM key file is copied and available in all the MediaAgents using the library under <software install folder>/Base/Certificates folder.

  • Private key password: The password associated with the private key.

Credentials must not contain blank spaces or other special characters. For instructions about creating a credential, see Adding a Credential to Credential Vault.

Compartment Name

The compartment name.

Bucket

Click the Detect button to detect an existing bucket.

Sometimes, existing bucket list may not get populated while detecting the buckets, as some vendors may not support this operation, or if there are no permissions to complete the operation. In such cases, type the name of the existing bucket that you want to use. The system will automatically use the existing bucket if it is available.

To enable users to perform operations for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, create policies that allow users or user groups to perform the required actions that are part of backup and recovery operations.

In Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, create policies for each compartment level, and then create user groups with the same names as the policies.
