Permissions Required

Users performing backups must be either an administrator or a backup operator. Backup operators (or Service Users) have full control to the registry and the installation folder.

Role	Privileges
An administrator or a backup operator in a local group	Able to back up any file and folder on the local computer to which the local group applies.
An administrator or backup operator on a domain controller	Able to back up any file and folder on: a computer in the domain a computer in a domain where a two-way trust relationship exists
Not an administrator or a backup operator but a custom owner of files and folders	Read Read and execute Modify Full Control
An administrator or a backup operator on the domain controller and on the Vserver For the share, access control with full access on the file server is required.	Able to back up any file and folder on the NetApp C-mode storage array.
An administrator or a backup operator on the domain controller For the share, access control with full access on the file server or NTFS permission is required.	Able to back up any file and folder on the NetApp 7-mode storage array.
