The Remote Snap MA property specifies a remote MediaAgent computer to run snapshot operations on the storage array instead of on the MediaAgent computer in the local host. This remote MediaAgent computer is called the Remote Snap MediaAgent. Previous snapshots are not affected.
Use the Remote Snap MA property to specify a Remote Snap MediaAgent computer in the following scenarios:

When the MediaAgent is behind a firewall.

When replicating snapshots and the access nodes of the source array do not have access to the destination array.
The software uses the array access node for the following features even if you configure the Remote Snap MediaAgent:

Array configuration

SnapManagement tool
-
NDMP and network share backups

Secondary volume cleanup for OCUM/ActiveIQ Unified Manager based snapshot replication
The software does not support using Remote Snap MediaAgent or array access node to perform archiving operations.
