Share Client Configuration

You can share the client configuration from one CommCell to another to run indexing queries and QCommands.

Share Client Configurations with a New CommCell

Use the following steps to register a CommCell and share client configurations:

  1. From the CommCell Console, navigate to the Client Computers node and right-click the <Client> you need to share.

  2. Point to All Tasks and then click Share Client Configuration.

    Note

    The CommCell associated with the selected client will be referred as source CommCell in this documentation.

  3. From the Share Client Configuration dialog box, select Register New CommCell and Share Client from the Select CommCell list, and then click Next.

  4. From the Register remote CommCell dialog box, enter the name and password credentials with administrative rights to access the target CommCell.

  5. Enter the CommCell Host Name that will share this client. (This is referred to as the target CommCell in this documentation.)

  6. Click OK.

    Note

    After verifying that the target CommCell is available, the source CommCell will access the target CommCell and add the source client as a de-configured client.

  7. From the Information dialog box, click OK to acknowledge that the client is shared with the registered (target) CommCell.

  8. In the Source CommCell, the target (registered) CommCell clients will be displayed as deconfigured clients under Client Computers.

Share Client Configurations with an Already Registered CommCell

Use the following steps to share client configurations with an already registered CommCell:

  1. From the CommCell Console, navigate to the Client Computers node and right-click the <Client> you need to share.

  2. Point to All Tasks and then click Share Client Configuration.

  3. From the Share Client Configuration dialog box, select the CommCell with which you plan to share the client configurations from the Select CommCell list.

    Tip

    You will be able to select a CommCell only if it was registered with the current CommCell earlier.

  4. Click Next.

    A dialog box will appear confirming the sharing of the client computer with the remote CommCell.
