Use this mode to test available bandwidth between two client computers, or a client and a server (for example, a Web Server). In this test, one host is designated as the server and the other as the client.
Before You Begin
-
Download the CV Network Test Tool GUI workflow from the Commvault Store. For more information, see Download Workflows from Commvault Store.
-
If the two hosts are separated from each other by a firewall, make sure the needed server port is open on that firewall (25000 is the default).
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, click Workflows, and then right-click Network Test Tool > All Tasks > Execute.
The Network Test Tool dialog box appears.
-
From the Mode of execution list, select Host to Host and then click OK.
The Enter the test inputs dialog box appears.
-
Select the server host from Host 1 and the client host from Host 2.
-
Optional: Type or select values for the following additional options:
-
Buffer Size (in Bytes): Specifies the number of bytes to transmit from the source client to the listening server and vice versa. The default buffer size is 16000 bytes.
-
Total Size (in MB): Specifies the total size of data to transmit from the source client to the listening server and vice versa. The default total size is 390.625 MB.
-
Server Port: Specifies the port number on the client acting as the listening server. This port is used to communicate control information with the target client. If not specified, port number 25000 is used.
-
Use firewall connect: Specifies to use client name to test tunnel speed using firewall connect.
-
First Buffer Delay: Specifies the number of seconds to wait before sending or receiving the first buffer. The default delay is 0 seconds.
-
Inter Buffer Delay: Specifies the number of milliseconds to wait before sending or receiving each buffer. The default delay is 0 milliseconds.
-
Server Side Port: Specifies the server-side port to test. The default port is 25001.
-
Client Side Port: Specifies the client-side port to test. The default port is 25002.
-
Bind to Interface: specifies the local IP address that the tool will use to listen for incoming connections.
Note
This applies only to Host 1.
-
-
Start the test by clicking OK.
-
When the test has completed, retrieve the results from your email inbox. The associated log files are attached to the email for reference.
Note
The network throughput results are shown in MB/s.
