Verifying Archived Files Using Workflows

The VerifyArchiveData workflow validates if all archived files on a source client computer are in the ContentStore.

Before You Begin

Download the workflow from the Commvault Store.

How Does It Work?

This predefined workflow automates the following operations:

  1. Verify if all archived files on the source client computer are in the ContentStore.

  2. When the operation is successful, the workflow sends an email to the user who executed the workflow.

    If the operation fails, the job appears as failed in the Job Controller.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Workflows.

    The Workflows window appears.

  2. Right-click Verify Archived Data, and then go to All Tasks > Execute.

    The Verify Archived Data Options dialog box appears.

  3. From the Run workflow on list, select the engine to use to execute the workflow.

  4. Enter values for the workflow inputs:

    Description

    Select Source Client

    The source client that contains the data for validating. It can also be a NAS client or a network share client.

    Machine to run tool (Data Access in case of NAS)

    The client that the workflow runs the validate operation on.

    Enter Backup Set Name

    The backup set that contains the subclients for validating. You can use filters to specify the backup set name.

    All backup sets are validated by default. If you enter a specific backup set name, all subclients that belong to that backup set are validated.

    Enter Subclient Name

    The subclient that contains the path to the data for validating. You can use filters to specify the subclient name.

    Specific Path

    The path that contains the data for validating. You can use filters to specify the path.

    Output Saved in Commvault Base folder under:

    The path where the output is saved.

    The output is saved in the Content Store folder of the computer that you specified in the Machine to run tool box.

  5. On the Job Initiation tab, specify whether you want to run the job immediately or to schedule it.

  6. Click OK.
