Adding a Google Cloud Object Storage Repository

Add a Google Cloud object storage repository.

Before You Begin

  • Ensure that a new or an existing project that you want to select is created with an inventory and the data classification plan for sensitive data governance.

  • The access node must have the Cloud Apps and Index Gateway packages installed.

Start the Configuration Wizard

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Data Insights.

    The Data Insights page appears.

  2. Under Risk Analysis, click Sensitive data governance.

    The Sensitive data governance page appears.

  3. In the right area of the page, click Add > Object storage.

    The Add object storage configuration wizard appears.

Project

  1. From the Projects list, select a project.

    Tip

    To add a project, click the add button add/plus button - gray - no border, and then enter the details required. For more information, see Creating a Project.

  2. Click Next.

    The Object Storage page of the configuration wizard appears.

Object Storage

  1. Select the check box next to the server you want to add. By default, the servers associated with system default inventory are displayed.

    Tip

    • To choose a server associated with a domain, select an Active Directory identity server(s) from the Identity server list.

    • If you do not see a server that you want to analyze in the system default inventory, click Synchronize to sync with the CommCell environment.

    • To choose a server from a custom inventory that you created, select your inventory from the Inventory list on left of the page.

    • If you do not see the server that you want to analyze in the selected custom inventory, in the upper-right corner of the page, click Refresh inventory.

    • Perform a keyword search. If the server is not found, you can click Add server to add the server to the inventory. The Add server option is available only if a custom inventory is selected in the Inventory list on left of the page.

    Steps to add Google Cloud Object Storage Repository
    1. Click Add server.

    2. In the Configure Object Storage page, click Google Cloud.

    3. Click Next.

      The Access Node page of the Configure Google Cloud Storage configuration wizard appears.

    1. From the Access node list, select the access node where the Cloud Apps package is installed.

    2. Click Next.

      The Add Object Storage page appears.

    1. In the Name box, enter a name for the repository.

    2. In the Host URL box, enter the Google Cloud service account URL.

      For example, you can enter storage.googleapis.com.

    3. From the Authentication list, select Service account.

    4. From the Credential list, select existing credentials or create new credentials.

      To add credentials to the Credential Manager, click the add button add/plus button - gray - no border, and then specify the following in the Add Credential dialog box.

      • In the Credential name box, enter a name for the credentials.

      • In the Access key ID box, enter the access key ID.

      • In the Secret access key box, enter the secret key.

      • In the Description box, you can enter a description of the credentials.

      • Click Save.

    5. Click Next.

      The Summary page of the configuration wizard appears.

    2. Click Finish.

  2. Click Next.

    The Configuration page of the configuration wizard appears.

  1. In the Data source name box, enter a display name for the data source.

  2. In the Source path box, enter or browse the path to the data on the server you want to analyze.

  3. Click Create.

Result

A data collection job automatically starts.

What to Do Next

After the data collection job is complete, you can start analyzing data using the overview dashboards.
