When you need to manage a Sybase database, add an instance for the database.
When you add an instance, a default database group is created for the instance. The default database group includes all the data in the Sybase database.
Note
You cannot delete the default database group.
Before You Begin
Verify that Sybase run_server file is located at the default location sybaseHome/ASE/install.
Procedure

From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.
The Overview tab appears.

On the Instances tab, click Add instance > Database server.
The Configure Database Instance page appears.

Select Sybase, and then click Next.
The Add Sybase instance page appears.

From the Server name list, select a server where you want to create the instance.

In the Instance name box, type a name for the instance.

From the Plan list, select a backup plan.

Under Connection details, in the SA user name and Password boxes, enter the credentials for a user account that has the sa_role and the sso_role.

Under Sybase options, do the following:

In the OS user name box, enter the user name that has access to the Sybase server.

In the OS user password and confirm password boxes, enter the password for the user account.

If you want to back up encryption keys, select Backup database encryption keys, and then in the Master key password box, enter the password.

Click Add.
