Backing Up a DB2 Database

You can perform a full backup operation, an incremental backup operation, or a differential backup operation for a DB2 database.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The Instances page appears.

  2. Click the instance.

    The instance page appears.

  3. Click the action button action_button for the instance, and then click Back up.

    The Backup dialog box appears.

  4. Select the subclient to back up, and then click Select.

The Backup options dialog box appears.

  5. Under Backup level, select the type of backup operation:

    • To perform a full backup operation, select Full.

    • To perform an incremental backup operation, select Incremental.

    • To perform a differential backup operation, select Differential.

  6. Under Tap media options section, you can perform the following actions:

    1. When you move the Start New Media toggle to right, consider the following:

      • For an individual job the job will use a new media.

      • For a scheduled job at the backup set level, all jobs that belong to the schedule from that backup set will go to a new media.

      • For a schedule policy, all jobs that run from that schedule policy, will go to a new media.

    2. When you move the Mark media full on success toggle to right, the system marks the media as full two minutes after a job completes. If another data protection job is queued or started within that two-minute period, the media will be used by that job. In addition, this option is useful when multiple data protection jobs are triggered simultaneously by a schedule or schedule policy, and the associated data needs to be written to the same media set.

  7. Click OK.
