To improve backup-restore throughput by going over a fibre channel, use the IBM i File System Agent with Commvault VTL (Virtual Tape Library). For more information, see IBM i File System Agent with Commvault VTL.

Ensure that the deduplication block size is set to 32 KB for optimal performance with IBM i backups. For instructions, see Modifying the Deduplication Settings for a VTL. If the deduplication block size is not set and the VTL detects an IBM iSeries backup, it automatically selects 32 KB block size.
