Configuring backups for your HPE Morpheus VM Essentials VMs includes specifying the HPE Morpheus VM Essentials cluster, a backup plan, and the VMs to back up.
Start the Configuration Wizard

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

In the upper-right area of the page, click Add hypervisor.

Select HPE Morpheus VM Essentials.

Click Next.
The configuration wizard appears.
Add Hypervisor Page
Create a hypervisor to represent your HPE Morpheus VM Essentials cluster.

Enter the host name (typically, the IP address of your Morpheus appliance server) and a descriptive name for the hypervisor.

Create or select credentials (username and access token) for a Morpheus user account that has permissions to do the following:
-
Access the cluster and resources such as nodes, instances, storage
-
Perform discovery, backup, and restore operations
Important
To prevent backup interruptions caused by expired tokens, create a Commvault access token with a one-year validity. You can generate and download the token in Morpheus UI > User Settings > API Access.
To create credentials, do the following:

Click the add button.
-
For Credential Vault, the Built-In value is selected by default.

In Credential name, enter a descriptive name for the credentials.

In User account, enter the name of the user account that has the permissions listed above.

In Access token, enter the access token for the user account.
-
In Description, enter a description of the credentials.

Click Save.

Create or select access nodes for HPE Morpheus VM Essentials.
To create access nodes, install the access node package on the physical node of the HPE Morpheus VM Essentials cluster as follows. For more information, see System Requirements and Known Issues for HPE Morpheus VM Essentials.

Click the add button.
-
Click Linux (64-bit) to download the package.
-
Extract the downloaded package.
-
Use either the system console or SSH to go to the installer directory.

Run the following command:
sudo ./cvpkgadd -
Select the Virtual Server Agent package.

Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Refresh the page, and then select the access node from the Access nodes list.

Click Next.
Plan Page
Create or select a backup plan that specifies storage and retention for backups.

Create or select a backup plan.
-
If you create a backup plan, create or select storage for your backups.
-
Click Next.
Add VM Group Page
Specify the VMs to back up with this first VM group for the hypervisor.

To create rules that auto-discover and select VMs to back up, do the following:

Click Add, and then select Rules.
The Add rule dialog box appears.

From the list, select the type of rule to create, and then specify the rule:
-
Browse: Select VMs. (Selecting this option changes the Add rule dialog box to the Add content dialog box.)

Cloud: Select VMs based on HPE Morpheus VM Essentials cloud they are in.
-
Cluster: Select VMs based on the HPE Morpheus VM Essentials cluster they are in.

Instance: Select VMs.
-
Instance name or pattern: Select VMs based on their names. For example, to select VMs that have a name that includes "east", enter Instance machine name or pattern | Contains | east.

Label: Select VMs based on a label they contain.
-
Tag: Select VMs based on a tag and value pair they contain.

Click Save.

To select VMs in other ways, do the following:

Click Add, and then select Content.
The Add content dialog box appears.

From the Browse and select VMs list, select one of the following:
-
Instances: Select VMs.
-
Clouds: Expand clouds to select VMs.
-
Clusters: Expand clusters to select VMs.
-

Click Save.
-

To see a list of the VMs that will be added to the VM group, click Preview.
Summary Page

Review the summary.
-
Click Finish.
