For a (global-active device) GAD pair, you need to configure one physical array for each virtual storage machine (VSM) array in the GAD pair. The procedure to configure a physical array and a VSM array is similar and you need to repeat the procedure for each physical array and for each VSM array.
Note
If your environment involves VSMs from multiple physical arrays, then you must set different CU range on the VSM array entries to avoid LDEV ID conflict during V-VOL\S-VOL creation. You must set the parameter CU range to be used to pick S-VOLs (CCI engines) in the snapshot configuration properties of the storage array.
Before You Begin
-
You must configure the physical array and the virtual storage machine (VSM) array in the Hitachi Vantara console.
-
For a physical array, you must have the serial number of the physical array that is configured in the Hitachi Vantara console that you will use in the following procedure.
Start the Configuration Wizard
-
From the navigation pane, click Manage > Infrastructure.
The Infrastructure page appears.
-
Click Arrays.
-
On the Arrays page, click Add.
The General page of the Add Snap Array configuration wizard appears.
General
-
From the Snap vendor list, select Hitachi Vantara.
-
In the Array name box, enter the name of the physical array or the VSM array. For the VSM array name, use the same VSM name that is configured in the Hitachi Vantara console. Prefix the array name with the number that corresponds to its model (for example, 312345 for G1000, or 455787 for G400).
-
The value in the Control Host box doesn't apply to Hitachi Vantara arrays. Thus, you don't need to enter a value.
-
In the Description box, enter the description for the array.
-
For credentials, do one of the following:
Note
Enter the credentials for a user who has permissions to modify and to view the device manager that will access the array. If you are configuring a VSM, then these permissions are the same as the permissions for the physical storage array.
-
To use the saved credentials, move the Use saved credentials toggle key to the right, and then select credentials from the Saved credentials list.
-
To add new credentials, enter the credentials in User name and Password boxes.
-
-
Click Next.
The Array Access Nodes page of the configuration wizard appears.
Array Access Nodes
Add an array access node if you want to use the secondary live snapshot for the backup copy operation or to add a MediaAgent to perform additional operations on the storage array.
-
From the Available MediaAgents list, select one or more access nodes and then click OK.
- To select all the available MediaAgents as access nodes, click SELECT ALL.
-
To disable pruning, move the Pruning toggle button of the respective access node to the left.
-
To rearrange the selected access nodes, drag them upwards or downwards as required.
-
Click NEXT.
The Snap Configurations page of the configuration wizard appears.
Snap Configurations
-
In the Physical array serial id (CCI engines) box, enter one of the following values:
-
For a physical array, enter nothing. For a physical array, the Physical array serial id (CCI engines) property must be empty.
-
For a VSM array, enter the serial ID of the physical array.
-
-
Move the Disable GAD operations for the devices (CCI engines) toggle key to the left.
-
Click SUBMIT.
