Enabling Windows Installations for Commvault

You can no longer install Commvault software on Windows, including the following components:

  • CommServe server

  • Web Server

  • Command Center

Don't worry: if they're already installed on Windows, you can still update them.

We strongly recommend moving these parts to a Linux platform for significantly increased performance, stability, efficiency, and security. Still, we understand that some businesses may need to keep using Windows for certain components.

If you need to keep using Windows, you must turn on a setting in the Windows registry.

Procedure

  1. Open the Windows Registry Editor, and go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE directory.

  2. Right-click SOFTWARE, and then click New > Key.

  3. Name the new key GalaxyInstallerFlags.

  4. Right-click GalaxyInstallerFlags, and then click New > DWORD.

  5. Name the new value bAllowInfraPkgInstall.

  6. Double-click bAllowInfraPkgInstall, set the Value to 1, and then click OK.

  7. Close the Registry Editor.
