Create a backup plan to specify the schedule and storage for your backed-up data. Then, associate the backup plan with different service CommCells.
Before You Begin
Create a Backup Plan

From the navigation pane, go to Config blueprint > Plans.
The Plans page appears.

Click Create plan, and then select Backup.
The Create backup plan page appears.

- In the Plan name box, enter a name for the backup plan.

Backup destinations

Click Add copy.
The Add copy dialog box appears.

In Name, enter a name for the backup destination.

For Storage list, add tag names and values to assign appropriate storage based on tags.
Note

You can also create storage rules using storage devices' default name, type, and region properties.
For example, consider that you have a storage disk named storagedisk1. To associate the backup plan to storagedisk1, you can add the tag name as type and tag value as disk. Or, you can add the tag name as name and tag value as storagedisk1.

You can add multiple tags to select only those storage devices to which all the tags are assigned.
For example, consider that you have a storage disk named storagedisk1, which also has the following tag assigned to it:
- Tag name: usage
- Tag value: daily backup
To assign the backup plan to storagedisk1, add the following two tags:
- Tag name as name and tag value as storagedisk1.
- Tag name as usage and tag value as daily backup.

For Retention rules, enter the amount of time to retain the backups.

To retain a specific full backup for an additional time period, move the Extended retention rules toggle key to the right, and then add rules.

Click Save.

To add an additional region to the backup destination, move the Multi-region toggle key to the right, and then select the region.
To add more regions and associate the storage copy to other regions, click ADD DESTINATIONS FOR ANOTHER REGION.

Recovery point objective

For Backup frequency, click Add.
The Add backup frequency dialog box appears.

From the Backup type list, select the backup type, and from the for list, select All agents or Databases.

Specify the frequency of the backup.

To specify the client time zone, full backup database frequency, or to add exceptions, move the Advanced toggle key to the right, and do the following:

From the time zone list, select the time zone according to which the backups must run.

If you select incremental or differential backup type for all agents or databases, to modify the full backup frequency of the database, specify a value for Run full backup on databases every option.

To add exceptions when the backups must not run, click Exceptions, and then add exceptions for any day of a month or week or schedule an exception for any week of the month.
Exceptions repeat every week or month according to the selected exception.

For Backup window (if incremental and differential backups are supported for the workload), specify when you want incremental and differential backups to run.

For Full backup window, specify when you want full backups to run.

Under Snapshot options, do the following:

Specify how to retain snapshots:
-
To specify the number of jobs to retain on a snapshot copy, select Number of snap recovery points, then enter the number.

To specify a retention period, select Retention period, then enter the time to retain the jobs.

If you don't want to create backup copies, move the Enable backup copy toggle key to the left to turn it off.

For Backup copy frequency, enter how often to run backup copy jobs.

Service CommCells
|
- From the Service CommCells list, select the service CommCells to which the backup plan can apply.

Associate Backup Plans with Service CommCells
You can associate a backup plan with multiple service CommCells to make the backup plan appear for selection in each service CommCell.

From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Plans.
The Plans page appears.

Click the backup plan that you want to associate with service CommCells.
The backup plan page appears.

Click the Service CommCells tab.

Next to search, click Edit.
The Edit dialog box appears.

In the Service CommCells list, select one or more service CommCells.
Optionally, select All to associate the backup plan with all service CommCells, including those created later.

Click OK.

Click Save.
