Marking a Backup Location for Retirement

To reduce or consolidate a backup location, you can mark it for retirement.

When you mark a backup location for retirement, the software does not use the backup location for subsequent write operations. Also, the software does not reference any data in the backup location for future backup operations. However, you can perform restore operations and prune operations on the data available in the backup location.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation, click Storage, and then click Disk.

    The Disk page appears.

  2. Click the required disk storage.

    The Disk Storage page appears.

  3. In the Backup locations section, click the required backup location.

    The Backup locations page appears.

  4. In the Configuration section, slide the Disable backup location for future backups toggle key to the right.

The Prepare for retirement toggle key appears.

  5. Slide the Prepare for retirement toggle key to the right.

The status of the backup location changes to Ready (Marked for retire) under the Status column in the Disk Storage page.

Note

To retire micro pruning disabled backup locations (mount paths), enable the Enable retire feature for micro pruning disabled mountpaths additional setting. For more details, see Enabling Retiring of Micropruning Disabled Mountpaths.
