REST API - POST Subclient Backup

This operation runs a backup job for a subclient.

Request

Syntax

Send the request using either the ID or the name:

Request Parameters

subclientId

The subclient ID for the subclient. If the subclient ID is not known, use the GET Subclient API to retrieve it.

Yes-for the request by ID

clientName

The client name for the subclient. If the client name is not known, use the GET Subclient API to retrieve it.

appName

The application name for the subclient. If the application name is not known, use the GET Subclient API to retrieve it.

backupsetName

The backup set name of the subclient. If the backup set name is not known, use the GET Subclient API to retrieve it.

subclientName

The subclient name of the subclient. If the subclient name is not known, use the GET Subclient API to retrieve it.

backupLevel

The type of backup to perform. If the backupLevel parameter is not used, the GET Subclient Backup API runs an incremental backup. If needed, the incremental backup is converted to a full backup.

Valid values are:

  • Full

  • Incremental

  • Differential

  • Synthetic_Full

    Use the runIncrementalBackup parameter to run an incremental backup with the synthetic full backup.

runIncrementalBackup

The option to run an incremental backup with a synthetic full backup. Use the backupLevel parameter to define the type of backup. Use the incrementalLevel parameter to define the order in which the incremental and synthetic full backups are run.

Valid values are True/False.

incrementalLevel

The option to run an incremental backup before or after a synthetic full backup. Use the incrementalLevel parameter with the runIncrementalBackup parameter.

Valid values are:

  • BEFORE_SYNTH

  • AFTER_SYNTH

Sample Response

This is the response when the backup job for the subclient starts. If a synthetic full back up is run with an incremental backup, the response contains the job ID for the first job started.
