Restoring a SharePoint Online Site to Another SharePoint Site

You can restore the SharePoint Online sites to another SharePoint site.

By default, the existing files and folders are overwritten during the restore operation.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365.

    The Office 365 Overview page appears.

  2. On the Apps tab, click the app.

    The Overview page of the app appears.

  3. To perform a restore, click Restore on the upper-right area of the page.

    The available Restore options tool appears.

  4. To restore individual sites, select Restore sites, and then click Next.

    The Select Sites tab appears.

  5. Select the sites to restore, and then click Next.

    The Destnation tab appears.

  6. Under SharePoint online, select Restore the data to another location, specify the restore location, and then click Next.

    • To restore the site to a different client, move the Restore to a different client toggle key to the right, and then in the Destination client list, select the client where you want to restore.

    • Beside the Destination path box, click Browse, select a SharePoint Online site, and then click Submit.

    The Options tab appears.

  7. Beside If documents exists, the Unconditionally overwrite option will be selected by default.

    The Skip option is disabled and cannot be selected.

  8. Configure any of the additional options, and then click Next:

    • To restore deleted items, select Include deleted items.

    • To restore only the ACLs, select Restore ACLs only.

    • To restore the workflow definitions and alerts, select Restore workflow definition and alerts only.

    • To restore only the latest version of the site, select Restore latest version only.

    • To skip lookup metadata for items being restored, select Skip lookup metadata.

    The Review tab appears.

  9. Review your selections, and then click Submit.

    The Summary tab appears.

  10. Click Close.
