Setting up Target Specific iSCSI CHAP/Target Login Credentials (Optional)

You can define credentials that are unique to each target device. This is useful when you want any specific MediaAgent initiator to use CHAP credentials that are tied to a specific VTL instance.

Configuring iSCSI Logins to Virtual Libraries

  1. From the navigation pane, click Virtual Libraries.

    The Configured VTLs page appears.

  2. In the row for the library that you want to add access, click View.

The details for the virtual tape library is displayed.

  3. Under VTL Information, click View in the iSCSI row.

The iSCSI Configuration page is displayed.

    • The IQN box displays the VTL Changer IQN. The IQN is auto-generated by the VTL host and can be left as is, or be modified.

    • The Chap Configuration section displays the existing CHAP configuration rules.

If no CHAP configuration rules are listed here, the rules defined in Securing iSCSI Device Access is applied by default.

  4. Select Add Chap to create new/unique credentials, instead of the Default, and specify the following:

    1. From the Direction list, select Incoming to specify that the CHAP credentials are defined on the target (VTL host).

    2. From the Device list choose one of the following options:

      • All to apply CHAP credentials to the medium changer and each drive.

      • Changer to CHAP credentials to the medium changer only.

      • Drive X to CHAP credentials to the specified drive.

    3. In the Initiator IQN box, perform one of the following

      • Leave it blank to apply the rule to all MediaAgents (Initiator IQNs).

      • Add the specific MediaAgent (Initiator IQN) to apply the rule to the specific MediaAgent.

    4. In the User and Password boxes, add the user credentials:

    5. User name should be greater then 8 characters and less than 256 characters and can include 0-9, a-z, A-Z, _ (underscore), and - (hyphen).

    6. Passwords should NOT include spaces, : (colon), = (equal sign), \ (backslash), ' (single quotation mark), and " (double quotation mark).

    7. If a special character is used, it should be enclosed within single quotation marks (' ').

  5. Click Add CHAP.
