Showing and Restoring Deleted Items in Teams

When you restore items, you can show and then restore items that are deleted.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365.

    The Office 365 Overview page appears.

  2. On the Apps tab, click the app.

    The Overview page of the app appears.

  3. On the Teams tab, select the team that you want to restore, and then click Restore > Restore items.

    A list of Teams channels appears.

  4. Click the name of the channel that contains the items that you want to restore.

    The items that you can restore appear.

  5. Select an item, and at the top-right of the page, click Show deleted items.

    The list of Teams channels refreshes.

  6. Click the name of the channel that contains the items that you want to restore.

    The items that you can restore appear.

  7. Select an item, and click Restore.

    The Restore options tool appears.

  8. On the Destination tab, specify the restore location, and then click Next:

    • To restore to its original location, leave Microsoft Teams and Restore the data to its original location selected.

    • To restore to a different location, under Microsoft Teams, click Restore the data to another location, and then specify the location:

      • To restore to a different client, move the Restore to a different client toggle key to the right, and then in the Destination client list, select the client where you want to restore.

      • In the Destination team box, click Browse, select a team from the list, and then click Submit.

      • In the Destination channel box, click Browse, select a channel from the list, and then click Submit.

    • To restore to a file location:

      • From the Server list, select a server to restore the files to.

      • In the Path box, click Browse, select a folder location from the list, and then click Save.

    The Options tab appears.

  9. Specify the options that appear based on the type of restore you are performing:

    • To Teams:

      1. Beside If the file exists, specify what to do with existing items:

        • To not overwrite existing items, select Skip.

        • To overwrite existing items, select Unconditionally overwrite.

      2. Beside Restore Posts, specify how to restore the posts, and then click Next:

        • To restore posts back to the place from where it was backed up, select Back to Posts tab.

        • To restore posts as an HTML file, select As HTML file under Files tab. The HTML file is restored in a folder with the naming convention <RestorePosts_date_restore job ID>.

        • To include deleted items in the restore, select Include deleted items.

    • To a File location: To include deleted items in the restore, select Include deleted items, and then click Next.

    The Review tab appears.

  10. Review your selections, and then click Submit.

    The Summary tab appears.

  11. Click Close.
