System Requirements for the IBM FlashSystem Storage Array

Before you configure your storage array, verify that your system meets the following requirements.

Licenses

Install the following software components.

Note

We recommend that you use certified versions. We do not certify all the minor versions of the firmware, but, if you encounter problems with a minor version during an IntelliSnap operation, we will assist you.
Starting IBM FlashSystem firmware version 8.6.2.x onwards, IBM has deprecated the use of SMI-S. Hence, if you have upgraded your firmware version to 8.6.2.1 or above, IntelliSnap operations will run using the REST API by default. The lower firmware versions will still use the SMI-S and opening REST API Port 7443 from Client/Proxy to the array is necessary as a prerequisite.

For snap-based operations using REST API support, open port 7443 for both HTTPS and HTTP between the CommServe computer or MediaAgent and the storage array.
For snap-based operations using SMI-S, open port 5989 for HTTPS and port 5988 for HTTP between the CommServe computer or MediaAgent and the storage array.
