Upgrading Software on a Service CommCell

You can upgrade Commvault software to install Commvault feature release and maintenance releases on a server group and the CommServe of the service CommCell from the Global Command Center.

Procedure

  1. From the Global Command Center navigation pane, go to Service CommCells.

    The Service CommCells page appears.

  2. In the row for the service CommCell that you want to upgrade the software on, click the action button action_button, and then select Upgrade software.

  3. In the confirmation dialog box that appears, click Yes.

    The Server Groups page of the Run Upgrade Software wizard appears.

  4. Select CommServe and server groups.

  5. Click Next.

    The Download Options page of the Run Upgrade Software wizard appears.

  6. Select the release version.

  7. In the Select Release list, the default monthly maintenance packs are shown. If you also want to view early release weekly maintenance packs in the list, move the Include custom releases toggle key to the right.

  8. Click Next.

    The Upgrade Options page of the Run Upgrade Software wizard appears.

  9. For Reboot options, select any of the following options:

    • Do not reboot: Does not allow the server groups and the CommServe to reboot after the software upgrade.

    • Reboot if required: Allows the server groups and the CommServe to reboot only if required after upgrade.

    • Always reboot: Reboots the server groups and the CommServe after software upgrade.

  10. To run database maintenance tasks like checking the database for errors and reindexing the database,select the Run database maintenance (includes checkdb and reindexall) check box.

  11. To install any diagnostic updates available in the cache, select the Install Diagnostic Updates present in cache (if applicable) check box.

  12. To receive an email notification when the software upgrade job activity is complete, leave the Notify user on job completion check box selected.

  13. Click Run.
