Adding Oracle RAC Database Instances

You can add an Oracle RAC instance so that you can manage an Oracle RAC database.

Before You Begin

Make sure that you have the following information:

  • The Oracle application installation path

  • If you want to use the Oracle catalog connect string to connect to the database, then you must have the following information:

    • The database user name

    • The database user password

    • The database service name

Procedure

Add a New Oracle RAC Cluster

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Solutions > Databases > DB Instances.

    The Instances page appears.

  2. Select Add instance, and then select Oracle RAC.

    The New Oracle RAC database dialog box appears.

  3. Select the Create a RAC cluster check box.

  4. In the RAC Cluster name box, type a unique name for the cluster.

  5. In the Database name box, type the name of the Oracle RAC database.

  6. From the Plan list, select the server plan to use for the instance.

  7. To use the Oracle catalog connect string, select the Use catalog connect check box, and then enter the Oracle catalog connect string.

  8. Add instances. For more information, see Adding Oracle RAC Nodes.

  9. Click OK.

Add a New Instance to an Existing Oracle RAC Cluster

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Solutions > Databases > DB Instances.

    The Instances page appears.

  2. Select Add instance, and then select Oracle RAC.

    The New Oracle RAC database dialog box appears.

  3. Clear the Create a RAC cluster check box.

  4. From the RAC Cluster name list, select the desired cluster.

  5. In the Database name box, type the name of the Oracle RAC database.

  6. From the Plan list, select the server plan to use for the instance.

  7. To use the Oracle catalog connect string, select the Use catalog connect check box, and then enter the Oracle catalog connect string.

  8. Add instances. For more information, see Adding Oracle RAC Nodes.

  9. Click OK.
