Configuring an Alternate Computer for Web Administration

Caution

After January 2019, Commvault users will not be able to access the web-based version of the CommCell Console using Java 11. For more information, see CC0013: Java Deprecation Warning Appears after Installing New Java Version.

If you do not want to use the CommServe computer as the IIS source, install the CommCell Console on an alternate computer and configure the alternate computer for web administration.

Before You Begin

Procedure

  1. Install the CommCell Console on an alternate computer:

    1. Log on to the alternate computer as an Administrator or a member of the Administrator group.

    2. Install the CommCell Console software.

    3. During the installation, click Yes when prompted to configure the console for web administration.

The alternate computer is now configured for web administration.

  2. Log on to the stand-alone CommCell Console.

  3. From the CommCell Console ribbon, on the Home tab, click Control Panel.

  4. Under Maintenance, click EMail, Web, and FTP Server.

  5. On the Web Server tab, select the Use Alternate Web Server URL for Add-in check box and type the path to the alternate computer web alias. Enter the path as follows:

    http://<alternate_computer_name>:<port>/<web_alias>

By default, port 81 is used. If you defined a different port, specify the port in the URL.

  6. Click OK.
