Performing a Full Backup of the Search Index

You can back up the Search index on the client where the Search Engine is installed. Only full backups are supported.

Note

We recommend that the storage policy has retention of 0 days, 1 cycle.

Before You Begin

  • Stop all running content indexing jobs.

  • Stop all Search Engine services.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, go to Client Computers > search engine client.

  2. Expand the Search Engine client.

  3. If the client is deconfigured (the icon is dimmed), right-click File System, point to All Tasks, and then click Reconfigure.

    Note

    A license is required to reconfigure the client.

  4. Under the Search Engine client, click File System > defaultBackupSet.

  5. On the defaultBackupSet tab, right-click the default subclient, and then click Properties.

  6. On the Content tab, click Browse.

  7. Go to the index directory.

    The default index directory is located in software_installation_directory\CVCIEngine\solr\CIIndex.

  8. In CI Index, select the index folder and the EXTStoreIndex folder, and then click Add.

  9. Click OK.

  10. Right-click the default subclient, and then click Backup.

  11. For Backup Type click Full.

  12. Click OK.
