Performing IBM i File System DR Backups

Back up your IBM i file system data for disaster recovery.

Procedure

  1. You can perform a backup on the subclient details page or the backup set details page.

    • Subclient details: From the navigation pane, click Servers > server > agent > backup_set > subclient. Then, in the Backup area, click Backup now.

    • Backup set details: From the navigation pane, click Servers > server > agent > backup_set, in the Actions column for the subclient, click the action button action_button, and then click Backup.

      The Backup Options dialog box appears.

  2. Select the DR backup type:

    1. To resume the computer after the operation system is captured, click Resume (*STSSBS).

    2. To use the reboot option, click Reboot (*IPL).

      1. To leave the computer in restricted state after the DR backup operation and initial program load (IPL) complete, select the Leave the system in restricted state check box.
  3. Click OK.

Result

After the backup succeeds, the following data is backed up in the format of bootable optical volumes:

  • SAVSYS

    • LIC - License internal code.

    • OS/400 Objects in QSYS

    • SAVSECDTA

      • User profiles

      • Private authorities

    • SAVCFG (configuration objects)

  • *IBM Libraries (system libraries)

  • System libraries with user data: QSYS2, QGPL, QUSRSYS

  • Commvault Libraries: CVLIB, CVLIBOBJ

  • System files and Commvault files with logs

  • /QIBM/ProdData

  • /QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData
