Use the Live Sync feature to perform incremental replication from a VM backup or database backup to a synced copy of the source. The Live Sync operation continuously applies changes from the source backups since the last sync point. You can use the following backup types for Live Sync:

The Live Sync feature performs the following procedures:

Initiates the replication automatically after a backup completes, or on a schedule.

Copies the backup data to remote disaster recovery (DR) sites with deduplication to minimize the wide area network (WAN) traffic. Live Sync then runs at the DR site.

Use Live Sync to create and maintain recovery sites for virtual machines, file systems or databases. Meet RPO objectives by specifying the frequency that the software performs backup operations. The Live Sync feature has the following benefits:

Live Sync minimizes the impact on production systems CPU and I/O by using the backup data for replications. This method avoids the need to read the source database again for replication.

Live Sync is hardware agnostic so there is no need to reproduce the original hardware environment at the recovery site.

Live Sync minimizes the data that is transferred over the WAN by sending incremental updates of the data to keep the source and destination in sync. Additionally, the data uses deduplication and compression to reduce traffic.

Live Sync minimizes the RTO because it automatically validates the backups and you can specify the new network connections.
