SAP for Oracle Database Copy

You can perform a database copy to:

  • Build a demonstration database from a production system

  • Build a test database that tests the production database without affecting the production database

  • Schedule a disaster recovery test

You can perform a SAP for Oracle database copy to the same or different host. When you copy the database to a new host you can have the same or different Oracle SID, different ORACLE_HOME path and SAPDATA_HOME path. When you copy the database to the same host, you must have a different Oracle SID, different ORACLE_HOME path and SAPDATA_HOME path from the source database.

The restore of the SAP summary and detail files is fully integrated when you perform a SAP for Oracle database copy from the CommCell Console, so you do not need to manually copy or restore these files.

Online_cons backups and offline backups are only for database resets. You cannot use these backup types for a point-in-time recovery operation.
