Back Up and Restore Microsoft Dynamics NAV Databases

Updated

Commvault provides a complete backup and restore solution for Microsoft Dynamics NAV databases. Use the SQL Server Agent to perform backup and restore operations of databases so that you can migrate the database to a new server.

Configuration

  1. Manually add the CRM instance either to a new client or to an existing client.

For more information, see Manually Discovering SQL Instances.

  2. Add the NAV database to a user-defined subclient.

For information about creating a user-defined subclient and adding databases to the subclient, see Creating User-Defined Subclients to Back Up a Group of SQL Databases.

Backups

Perform a full backup on the CRM user-defined subclient. To ensure that you data is automatically protected, schedule a backup (Backup Options dialog box, Job Initiation section, Schedule).

For more information, see Backing Up SQL Databases.

Restores

Restore the NAV database to a new SQL server. For more information, see Restoring SQL Databases Out of Place (Moving Databases).

Reconfigure the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server

Configure the NAV Server Instance to point to the new NAV database host (the destination host from the restore operations).
