Manually Discovering SQL Instances

Although Commvault supports automatic discovery of new instances added to the SQL Server, you can also discover new instances on demand.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, click Client Computers > client.

  2. Right-click SQL Server, point to All Tasks, and then click New SQL Server.

The Properties of SQL Server dialog box is displayed.

  3. In the Instance Name list, select an instance that you want to assign to this SQL Server.

  4. Optional: To run backups or restores using a specific account, configure the user account at the instance level. On the Accounts tab, select the Override Higher Level Settings check box. Either select Use Local System Account or select Impersonate User and enter the user credentials.

For more information about the user account requirements, see Configuring User Accounts for the SQL Server Agent.

  5. Click OK.
