Backing Up with the Network Share IntelliSnap Backup for NFS Exports

To back up your data, run a backup operation from the File System agent under the NAS client.

Before You Begin

  • If the subclient contents overlap, then the backup of each share is done individually.

  • For C-Mode subclients with wild card content, if the source for the backup copy is a vault copy or a mirror copy, then verify that the vault or mirror volume is mounted. For C-Mode NFS subclients, the volume must also be associated to the export-policy that have rules to allow access to all the IntelliSnap proxy computers or access nodes.

  • For the NetApp storage array, if you want to back up an auto-mount format NFS export, then on the storage array, ensure that the following conditions are met:

    • The file system or the volume permits access to the hosts. Without the proper access rights, the auto-mount operation fails.

    • For NetApp C-Mode systems, when NFS hosts access a file or a folder on a volume with NTFS security style, there must be a name mapping configured on file server for mount operations and file access.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > NAS client > file system agent > backup set.

  2. Right-click subclient, and then click Backup.

The Backup Options for Subclient dialog box appears.

  3. In the Select Backup Type area, click Full.

  4. In the Job Initiation area, click Immediate, and then click OK.

Result

After you create a backup copy either inline, or offline, the last snapshot backup job which was backup copied is retained in addition to the regular retention.
