Getting Started with the Network Share IntelliSnap Backup for NFS Exports

To get started, review each topic about Network Share IntelliSnap Backup for NFS Exports.

Step 1: Review System Requirements and Considerations

Review system requirements and considerations. If you are using the NetApp array, read about supported volumes.

Step 2: Configure Your Environment

1. If you do not have an NFS export already, using the storage array software, create an NFS export.

2. Choose one of the following configuration methods:

   • Configuration of the Network Share IntelliSnap Backup for NFS Exports via Array Management

   • Configuration of the Network Share IntelliSnap Backup for NFS Exports via Client Computer

3. Decide if you want LAN free functionality. If you use MediaAgents as data access nodes, then you can run LAN free backup operations. If you want to use MediaAgents as data access nodes, then verify that the MediaAgent meets the systems requirements. If you do not want to use MediaAgents as data access nodes, then the hardware requirements of the data access node are the same as those required for regular file system clients.

   Tip

   You can add additional data access nodes based on the bandwidth load between the data access nodes (source) and the MediaAgents (destination).

4. If you are using the Huawei storage array, on the array software, set the option Snapshot Directory Visibility to visible. If the option Snapshot Directory Visibility is set to invisible, then snapshot operations fail in the scan phase.

• For the NetApp storage array, you can run the backup copy from the primary copy and from the secondary copies.

• You can configure snapshot cataloging. If you skip cataloging during IntelliSnap backups, you can later run cataloging on the IntelliSnap backup jobs, or you can use the backup copy of the IntelliSnap job for cataloging and moving the job to media.
