Configuring Access to the Active Directory Through the Web Server

You can configure access to the Active Directory through the Web Server. For example, an instance of a Web Console authenticates a user through its configured Web Server, and then the Web Server contacts the configured CommServe host.

Before You Begin

Set up a client to be used as a proxy, and then configure it to reach the following servers:

  • The CommServe computer using Commvault network configurations. For more information, see Direct Connections.

  • The Web Server using Commvault network configurations. For more information, see Direct Connections.

  • The Active Directory server using a direct connection.

Procedure

  1. Configure the CommServe host to access a domain server using a client computer as the proxy, as follows:

    Note

Secure LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) is not supported with port forwarding.

    1. In the CommCell Browser, go to Security > Domains.

    2. Right-click domain_controller > Properties.

The Edit Domain Controller Details dialog box appears.

    3. Select the Access the domain controller through check box.

    4. From the Client Name list, select the client computer, and then click OK.

    5. Right-click the name of each computer that uses a port forwarding gateway, and then click All Tasks > Push Network Configuration.

    6. Verify that your network configuration was pushed successfully by looking for a network push event in the Event Viewer.

  2. Log on to the Web Server host as an administrator, and from the command prompt, run the iisreset command to restart the Web Server software (IIS).
