Editing the Hypervisor Configuration

You can change the configuration for a hypervisor by editing the hypervisor settings.

Before You Begin

  • To configure access to vCloud Director for VMware, obtain the vCloud host name and user credentials.

  • To select a MediaAgent to recover UNIX file system data, a file recovery enabler for Linux must be deployed in your environment.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

    The Virtual machines page appears.

  2. On the Hypervisors tab, click the hypervisor.

    The hypervisor page appears.

  3. On the Configuration tab, modify the settings for the hypervisor.

  4. In the Activity Control area, click the toggle switch for Data backup or Data restore to control whether users can perform those operations for the hypervisor.

  5. In the Settings area, to change settings, click Edit.

    For VMware, you can set the following settings:

    • vCloud host name: To enable backups and restores for vCloud Director, enter the vCloud host name.

    • Username: Enter the username for the vCloud account. Do not include the domain name.

    • Password: Enter the password for the vCloud account, then re-enter the same password in the Confirm password box.

    For Alibaba Cloud, Amazon, Azure, Hyper-V, OpenStack, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle VM, vCloud Director, and VMware, you can set the following setting:

    • File recovery enabler for Linux: Select a MediaAgent that has been configured to recover UNIX file system data.

    For application-aware backups, you can specify the credentials that are used to access guest VMs:

    • Guest Credentials: Specify a user name and password that can be used for all guest VMs on the hypervisor.
  6. Click Save.

  7. In the Security area, click Edit to associate users, groups, or roles with the hypervisor, or to specify owners and permissions.

  8. In the Proxy area, click Edit to modify the list of proxies that can be used for the hypervisor.

  9. For vCloud Director, in the vCenters area, click Edit to add or remove a vCenter.

    The Edit vCenters dialog box appears.

    1. To add a vCenter hypervisor, from the vCenters list, select the hypervisor.

      The Edit vCenter credentials dialog box appears.

    2. Enter the username and password for the vCenter.

    3. Click Save.

    4. To remove a vCenter, click the action button action_button in the row for the vCenter, and then click Delete.

    5. Click Save.
