Exchange Mailbox Backup Quota for End Users

Your administrator uses Exchange Mailbox Backup Quota to manage backup storage that messages consume. Quotas (or limits) are applied to your mailbox so that when the total size of your backed up messages approaches or exceeds this quota, you are sent a notification. Notifications are sent to you when the following conditions are met:

  • When your mailbox exceeds 90 percent of its quota, a warning is sent.

  • When your mailbox exceeds its quota, an alert is sent.

If your mailbox approaches or exceeds 100 percent of its quota, it is no longer backed up. To make sure that your mailbox continues to be backed up, you can do either of the following:

  • Delete messages from your mailbox using End-User Delete.

Your administrator must enable this feature before you can use it.

  • Ask your administrator to increase the quota for your mailbox.
