The OnePass for Exchange Mailbox (Classic) is a comprehensive solution that incorporates the traditional backup and message archiving in a single operation. You can move the mailbox messages to a secondary storage and use these messages to function as both backup and archive copy. Stubs are retained on the production storage. The stubs point to the messages that were moved as part of the backup. The archived messages are available for quick and easy retrieval by administrators and end users.

In addition, this integrated agent can age messages and stubs selectively to reclaim space on the primary storage and the secondary storage based on message age in the mailbox.

Message-Level Retention Based on Message Received Time

Space can be reclaimed on the secondary storage by selectively aging off messages based on their received time.

Messages are also selectively pruned from the primary storage based on the message age in the mailbox for compliance purposes.
OnePass Data Management

A key feature of OnePass for Exchange Mailbox (Classic) is that large number of mailbox messages can easily be protected by a single backup job. The backup operation will also archive the messages to a less expensive secondary storage based on archiving rules.
Transparent Data Restore

The archived messages can be easily recovered. End-user can recover the original messages using Outlook Add-In, Outlook Web Access (OWA), Universal Recall Link and the Web Console. Alternatively, users can also ask the administrator to browse the CommCell Console to recover the message.
Granular Protection of Mailboxes

OnePass for Exchange Mailbox (Classic) backs up mailboxes to enable quick retrieval of messages and attachments that might have been lost from a user's mailbox.

Terminology

Affinity	An association between two entities used in Automatic Discovery scenarios. For example, automatic discovery of mailboxes by database affinity implies the mailbox is included in the selected database.
Archiving	Archiving is a process of periodically moving unused or infrequently used mailbox messages to a secondary storage. Stubs replace the archived messages in the mailbox, thereby reducing the space consumption of the mailbox.
Data Recovery	The archived message can be recovered in any of the following three methods: Browse and Recovery of archived messages using the CommCell Console. Recovery of archived messages from stubs using third-party applications. For more details see, Outlook Add-In. Recovery of archived messages from any remote location using Outlook Web App. For details see, Outlook Web App. Recovery of archived messages from any mobile device through which they can access Outlook Web App. For details see, Universal Access.
Database	Includes all operational elements of the Exchange Server such as Stores and Transaction Logs.
Non-Exchange Server	A computer other than the Exchange Server where OnePass for Exchange Mailbox (Classic) might be located. Using a non-Exchange Server often results in less overhead on the Exchange Server during backup and restore operations.
Persistent Recovery	Multiple stub recoveries are submitted to the Job Controller as one job called a Persistent Recovery job. The job will wait for some time in order to allow other stub recovery requests being submitted on the same client to be batched into the same job.
Stubs	Stubs are placeholders of the original message after it has been migrated to the secondary storage.
