Impact of the MediaAgent Deletion

The MediaAgent that you delete is the only array access node for the storage array with the capability to prune the snapshots from the storage array.

The software uses the source MediaAgent of the snapshots to perform prune operation.

Before you delete the MediaAgent, optional

Assign another MediaAgent as the array access node.

The mount path is shared with other MediaAgents along with the MediaAgent that you delete.

The MediaAgent deletion operation removes sharing with the MediaAgent for the mount path.

No action is needed.

The MediaAgent deletion operation removes sharing with the MediaAgent for the mount path.

Before or after you delete the MediaAgent, mandatory

Share the mount path with another MediaAgent.

The storage policy or the storage pool has other MediaAgent as the data path along with the MediaAgent that you delete.

The MediaAgent deletion operation deletes all the data paths associated with the MediaAgent.

No action is needed.

The MediaAgent that you delete hosts some of the deduplication database (DDB) partitions of the storage policy or the storage pool.

The software automatically performs the Config Only DDB move partition operation to move the partitions to another MediaAgent that hosts other DDB partitions.

After you delete the MediaAgent, you are expected to run a DDB reconstruction operation.

The MediaAgent that you delete hosts all the deduplication database (DDB) partitions of the storage policy or the storage pool.

The software cannot access the DDB after you delete the MediaAgent.

After you delete the MediaAgent, you must perform the Move Partitions operation with Change Config only option selected. Then, you are expected to perform the DDB reconstruction.

The MediaAgent that you delete is the only library controller for the tape library.
