If a feature release (formerly "service pack") is already installed and a maintenance release (formerly "hotfix pack") is made available after the feature release, you can download the maintenance release on the CommServe computer and use the CommCell Console to install hotfixes on your clients.
Note

If you want to push a maintenance release out to clients remotely, you must install the maintenance release on the CommServe computer first.

You can manually install a maintenance release on a client that is a later maintenance release than the one installed on the CommServe computer.
Before You Begin
Download the maintenance release by selecting one of the following scenarios that applies to your CommCell environment.
Note
If you need to download cumulative hotfixes, use the "CommServe computer does not have Internet connectivity" steps, below.
CommServe computer has Internet connectivity
You must download the maintenance release using the CommCell Console.

On the Tools tab in the CommCell Console ribbon, click Add/Remove Software > Download Software.
The Download and Sync Cache Options dialog box appears.

Click Maintenance Release.

CommServe computer does not have Internet connectivity
You must download the maintenance release from the Cloud Services website and then copy the package to the CommServe cache.

Go to the Commvault Store on the Cloud Services website.

From the navigation pane on the left, click Media Kits and download the maintenance release that you need. To locate all the available maintenance releases, type hotfix in the search bar.

Note
Download the package to a dedicated folder. The package for Windows clients is an .exe file, and for UNIX is a .tar file. Do not extract the package contents.

After the download, copy the hotfixes to the CommServe cache by performing the following steps:

From the CommCell Console ribbon, click the Tools tab, and then click Add/Remove Software > Copy Software.
The Copy Software Options dialog box appears.

On the General tab, in the Copy Software From Location box, specify the path of the folder where you saved the .exe or .tar file.
Note
If the package is on a network share, use the Impersonate User option to specify a user account with sufficient permissions to access the share.

Click OK.

Procedure

From the CommCell Console ribbon, on the Tools tab, click Add/Remove Software > Update Software.
If you want to install the maintenance release on a CommServe computer configured in a cluster environment, right-click the CommServe node and then click All Tasks > Add/Remove Software > Update Software.

In the Update Software dialog box, expand Client Computers, and then select the clients on which you want to install the hotfixes.

Click OK.
You can track the progress of the job from the Job Controller window.
Note
During a maintenance release installation, services are stopped and the CommCell Console is closed on affected machines. After installation, services may be cycled.
Results

Hotfixes are installed on the selected clients.

If you selected the options to install Windows OS updates and MS SQL Server updates when you install Commvault feature release or maintenance release updates, then these updates are installed on the select clients.
