Auxiliary Copy Job Options

Use this dialog box to select the criteria to perform an Auxiliary Copy operation.

Select a Storage Policy

Allows you to select the storage policy from which you will run an auxiliary copy operation. (Applicable for the CommServe level only. This field will not display storage policies that do not have secondary copies configured.)

Select Source MediaAgent

Allows you to select the source MediaAgent from which you will run the auxiliary copy. (Applicable for copies that are configured with a shared library only.)

If a source copy used for the Auxiliary Copy job is configured with a shared library, you can select a MediaAgent to read the data during the Auxiliary Copy operation.

When the <Any MediaAgent> is selected, the system automatically picks up the appropriate MediaAgent, especially when multiple MediaAgents are associated with the copy. This improves the auxiliary copy performance.

Copy Selection

  • All Copies

If selected, data from the source copy will be copied to all active secondary copies. If cleared, the Select a Copy field is enabled and you must select an secondary copy from the drop down list of active secondary copies.

  • Select a Copy

If selected, data from the source copy is copied to the secondary copy you select from the drop down list of active secondary copies. If cleared, the All Copies field is enabled, and data is copied from the source copy to all active secondary copies.

Number of Readers

Allows you to select the data streams that are copied at the same time during the auxiliary copy operation.

  • Number of Streams

Allows you to select the number of data streams that are copied at the same time during the auxiliary copy operation.

  • Allow Maximum

If selected, the maximum number of data streams will be copied at the same time during the auxiliary copy operation.

Start new media

If selected, the option causes the following to occur:

  • If removable media (tape) is being used on a secondary copy, the current active media is marked as full and a new media is used for the auxiliary copy.

  • If disk media is used, a new volume folder is created for the auxiliary copy.

If cleared, the auxiliary copy automatically uses the current active media or volume.

Mark media full On Success

If selected, the media used for the auxiliary copy operation is marked full after the operation is successfully completed.

Use Most Recent Full Backup For Auxcopy

If enabled, the most recent successful full backup for each subclient will be copied to selective copies when an Auxiliary Copy job is run.

If disabled, only the previously selected full backup jobs or manually selected jobs will be copied to selective copy when an Auxiliary Copy job is run.

Note: This option is applicable only for Selective Copies when Do not Automatically select jobs option is enabled on the Selective Copy tab of the selective Copy Properties dialog box.

When enabled during Auxiliary Copy operation the following jobs are copied:

  • The most recent full backup for all subclients associated with the storage policy.

  • The partial jobs available on the selective copy.

  • The jobs that are manually selected for copy.

Wait For All Parallel Copy Resources

If selected, the auxiliary copy operation will not start for parallel copies until all resources (MediaAgents and libraries) for the parallel copy are available.

Use Scalable Resource Allocation

If selected, the scalability of the auxiliary copy operation is enhanced and the CommServe resources are optimally utilized. For example, all the device streams are effectively utilized and there is load balancing across all MediaAgents in case LAN-free MediaAgents are not available.

Note: The CommServe resources will not be optimally utilized during the auxiliary copy operations in the following conditions:

  • When running the auxiliary copy operation for NAS data

  • When the MediaAgents are not upgraded to the latest Commvault version

Skip jobs that failed data verification

If selected, the backup jobs that did not complete the data verification operation with a successful status will not be copied during the auxiliary copy operation.

Save As Script

Click to open the Save As Script dialog, which allows you to save this operation and the selected options as a script file (in XML format). The script can later be executed from the Command Line Interface using qoperation execute command.

When you save an operation as a script, each option in the dialog will have a corresponding XML parameter in the script file. When executing the script, you can modify the value for any of these XML parameters as per need.

Use this dialog box to select a schedule type for an auxiliary copy operation of this copy.

Associate to Schedule Policy

Click to enable the Automatic Copy operations. If selected, the auxiliary copy will select the system default and will automatically copy data from the primary copy to this copy at 30-minute intervals. This interval can be changed in the Auxiliary Copy Job Initiation dialog box.

You can also select any other schedule policy to run auxiliary copy operation as per your specific requirement from the available dropdown list.
