Performing an Amazon RDS Full Backup

You can use this procedure to back up all the subclients for an Amazon RDS instance or a specific subclient.

Procedure

Determine the subclients to back up.
- To back up all subclients for the Amazon RDS instance, from the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Cloud Apps > RDS.
- To back up one subclient for the Amazon RDS instance, from the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Cloud Apps > RDS >subclient.
Right-click RDS or the subclient and click Backup All Subclients or Backup.

The Backup Options for Subclient dialog box appears.
On the Backup Options tab, select the backup type and job initiation:
1. In the Backup Type section, select Full.
2. In the Job Initiation section, specify whether to run the backup now or if it will be scheduled.

3. Optional: To further customize the backup operation, click Advanced.

Click OK to close the Backup Options dialog box.

Note

Backup copy for Amazon RDS protection using AWS Native Snapshots is not supported.

What to Do Next

Verify that the snapshot exists in the Amazon Web Console.

Note

The backup job is marked completed with errors when one or more RDS instance snapshot operations fail for a subclient. The job is eligible for replication of successful snapshots from one region to another.
