Restoring a Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) Web Application

You can restore only the web application component, either to the same source client or to a new destination client.

To the Same Configuration

To restore WSS web application database to the same client, complete the following steps:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > SharePoint Server > Databases.

  2. Right click the subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Expand the WSS Web Application node, select a content database, and then click Recover all Selected.

    The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

  5. On the General tab, select the following options to perform the restore job:

    1. In the Restore Options pane, select Restore individual component, and then select the Web Application check box.

    2. In the Type of Restore pane, select Same Configuration.

  6. Optional: To change user account of the Web Application Pool account, on the Web Application tab, double-click the Login Name and the Password.

  7. Click OK.

To a New Configuration

To restore a WSS web application database to a different client, complete the following steps:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > SharePoint Server > Databases.

  2. Right click the subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.

    The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Expand the WSS Web Application node, select a content database, and then click Recover all Selected.

    The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

  5. On the General tab, select the following options to perform the restore job:

    1. In the Restore Options pane, select Restore individual component, and then select the Web Application check box.

    2. In the Type of Restore pane, select New Configuration.

  6. Optional: To change user account of the Web Application Pool account, on the Web Application tab, double-click Login Name and Password.

    To change the web application name and its port number, double-click Web Application.

  7. Click OK.

Note

You can restore only one WSS web application database per restore job. Restoring multiple WSS web application databases in a single job is not supported.
