Update Statuses in the Software Version Report

In the Software Version Report, the definition of Good, Warning, and Critical status are different for each entity type.

The criteria for each status are based on the version number, the feature release number, and the maintenance release number that is installed on the entity. The status of the software version appears in the Status for the CommServe server or in the Update Status column for MediaAgents, laptop client computers, and servers. If the CommServe server is installed with a Long-Term Support (LTS) release, then the criteria are slightly different than CommServe servers that are not installed with an LTS release.

CommServe Servers

The following statuses apply to CommServe servers.

Status

Description

Good

The software version for the CommServe server is current, according to either of the following conditions:

  • The CommServe server is installed with the current feature release or one of the previous 3 feature releases and the current maintenance release or one of the 8 previous maintenance releases.

  • The CommServe server is installed with the most recent LTS release.

Warning

The software version for the CommServe server is not current, according to the either of the following conditions:

  • The software version is behind by 4–5 feature releases and 9–16 maintenance releases.

  • The software version is behind by 3 LTS releases.

Critical

The software version for the CommServe server is not current, according to either of the following conditions:

  • The software version is behind by 6 or more feature releases and 17 or more maintenance releases.

  • The software version is behind 4 or more LTS releases.

Servers

The following statuses apply to servers. For optimal performance, the software version installed on the servers in the CommCell environment must be the same as the software version installed on the CommServe server.

Status

Description

Good

The server and the CommServe server are installed with the same feature release.

Warning

The software version for the server and the CommServe server are out of sync by 1 feature release.

Critical

The software version for the server and the CommServe server are out of sync by 2 or more feature releases.

MediaAgents

The following statuses apply to MediaAgents. For optimal performance, the software version installed on the MediaAgent must be the same as the software version installed on the CommServe server.

Status

Description

Good

The MediaAgent and the CommServe server are installed with the same feature release.

Warning

The software version for the MediaAgent and the CommServe server are out of sync by 1 feature release.

Critical

The software version for the MediaAgent and the CommServe server are out of sync by 2 or more feature releases.

Laptop Client Computers

The following statuses apply to laptop client computers.

Status

Description

Good

The software version for the laptop client computer is current, according to either of the following conditions:

  • The laptop client computer is installed with the current feature release or one of the previous 3 feature releases.

  • The laptop client computer is installed with the most recent LTS release.

Warning

None: There is no Warning status for laptop client computers.

Critical

The software version for the laptop client computer is not current, according to the either of the following conditions:

  • The software version is behind by 4 feature releases.

  • The software version is behind by 3 LTS releases.
