Adding Access Nodes for a VM Group

  • The Commvault Virtual Server Agent must first be installed on the existing VM nodes before adding additional nodes.

  • You can add access nodes to an existing VM group.

  • If you specify access nodes for a VM group, only those access nodes are used to back up the VM group. The access nodes that are specified for the hypervisor configuration are not used, unless those access nodes are also specified for the VM group.

  • For restores, access nodes for the hypervisor or the VM group are used.

  • For both backups and restores, the first access node for the VM group functions as a coordinator to distribute VM backups to any other available access nodes.

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

    The Virtual machines page appears.

  2. On the VM groups tab, click the VM group to add access nodes to.

    The VM group page appears.

  3. On the Configuration tab, in the Access node section, add the access nodes:

    • To create and add a new access node, click Configure access node, and then enter the necessary information.

    • To select existing access nodes, click Edit, and then select the access nodes.
