Disaster Recovery for Kubernetes

You can protect your Kubernetes data from a disaster—on a single node, multiple nodes, or the entire site—by using the Virtual Server Agent (VSA) to take crash-consistent snapshots of your Kubernetes infrastructure. You can recover entire nodes or clusters, to the same virtualization cluster or to a new off-site cluster.

Crash-consistent snapshots for disaster recovery are especially useful when you cannot use Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) automation for backups.

The snapshots include etcd backups (of the snapshot.db file) that are stored on the Kubernetes nodes.

Commvault supports all major virtualization hypervisors to perform disaster recovery backups of Kubernetes nodes. For more information, see Virtualization and Cloud.
