Configuring Instant Clone for the Dell EMC VMAX Array

You can decouple an instant clone from a snapshot.

Procedure

1. From the CommCell Browser, click the Storage tab, and then click the Array Management icon.

   The Array Management dialog box appears.

2. Select an Dell EMC PowerMax/VMAX3/VMAX/Symmetrix array, and then click Edit.

   The Array Properties dialog box appears.

3. On the Snap Configuration tab, select Decoupled instant clone.

4. Click OK.

Results

When you decouple an instant clone from its snapshot, the Commvault software creates an identifier for the target devices, so that you can manage the instant clone.
