Creating the Replica Copy for the Pure Storage FlashArray Storage Array

The replica copy is an additional copy of the snapshot primary copy. The snapshot primary copy contains the metadata of the snapshots of the local array. The replica copy contains the metadata of the snapshots of the remote array.

Before You Begin

To create a Vault/Replica copy, you need a backup plan with a snapshot primary copy. See Backup Plan - Getting Started.

For inline replication, create a default replica copy.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Plans.

    The Plans page appears.

  2. In the Plan name column, select the plan to add a vault/replica copy.

    The Overview page of the backup plan appears.

  3. Go to Storage policies tab.

  4. In the Copies area, click Add and then click Snap copy.

    The Add snapshot copy dialog box appears.

  5. In the Name box, type a name for the snapshot copy.

  6. In Copy type, select Vault/Replica.

  7. From the Storage list, select a storage.

  8. From the Backups to copy list, select a backup job type.

  9. From the Source list, select a primary snap copy to create a vault/replica copy from.

  10. To select a date from which you want to copy the backup types, do one of the following:

    • To copy the backup types from the initial backup date, select Protect from initial backup date.

    • To select a specific date, select Protect from a specific date and then set the Start time.

  11. For the Retention rules, select either Retention period or Number of snap recovery points, and then add the rules.

    Note

    To set the snapshot copy as a spool copy, set the Retention period to 0 days.

  12. To specify additional backups, such as weekly full backups, move the Extended Retention rules toggle key to the right, and then add rules.

  13. To add mappings, do the following:

    1. click Add.

    2. From the Snapshot vendor list, select Pure Storage FlashArray.

    3. From the Source Array list, select the source array.

    4. From the Target Array list, select the target array.

    5. By default, all the subclients will be associated to the same source and target array. If you want add a non-default mapping for a specific subclient, move the Associate all subclients toggle key to the left.

    6. From the Subclients list, select the subclient for which you want to add the non-default mapping.

    7. Click ADD.

    8. Click SAVE to save the mapping.

  14. Click SAVE to save the vault/replica copy.
