Configure backups for Atlassian Jira

Create an Atlassian Jira app that will contain the spaces and work items you want to manage and back up.

MSP environments

If you are an MSP and you want your tenant administrators to create the DevOps app, see Infra Admin.

To create the app, follow these steps:

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Service catalog.

  2. On the DevOps tile, click Configure.

  3. Select Atlassian Jira, and then click Next.

    The Configure Atlassian Jira App wizard appears.

  4. Enter a descriptive name for the application, and then click Next.

  5. Complete the authentication steps:

    Express Configuration

    1. Select Express Configuration.

    2. Click Sign in with Jira.

    Custom Configuration

    1. Select Custom Configuration.

    2. Copy the redirect URL displayed on the screen. You will need this URL when creating the OAuth app in Atlassian.

    3. Create an OAuth app in Atlassian Jira using the redirect URL you copied.

    4. Select the The redirect URL for the OAuth app is set to check box.

    5. For Credentials, create new credentials:

      1. Click the add button.

        The Add credential dialog box appears.

      2. In Credential name, enter a descriptive name for the credentials.

      3. In Client ID, enter the client ID for your Atlassian OAuth app.

      4. In Client secret, enter the client secret for your Atlassian OAuth app.

      5. Click Save.

    6. Click Sign in with Jira.

    Express Configuration

    1. Select Express Configuration.

    2. Click Sign in with Jira.

    Custom Configuration

    1. Select Custom Configuration.

    2. Copy the redirect URL displayed on the screen. You will need this URL when creating the OAuth app in Atlassian.

    3. Create an OAuth app in Atlassian Jira using the redirect URL you copied.

    4. Select the The redirect URL for the OAuth app is set to check box.

    5. For Credentials, create new credentials:

      1. Click the add button.

        The Add credential dialog box appears.

      2. In Credential name, enter a descriptive name for the credentials.

      3. In Client ID, enter the client ID for your Atlassian OAuth app.

      4. In Client secret, enter the client secret for your Atlassian OAuth app.

      5. Click Save.

    6. Click Sign in with Jira.

  6. Complete the authorization:

    Note

    To authorize the app and configure backups, you must be a site admin with Jira administration permissions.

    The Acquire the Jira app details screen appears, showing the authorization process.

    At the Waiting on the Jira app authorization prompt, you are redirected to the Atlassian login page to authorize the OAuth app on your Atlassian account.

  7. If you are not redirected automatically, click the provided link.

  8. On the Atlassian authorization page:

    a. Select your site from the available sites.

    b. Review the permissions requested by the Commvault app.

    c. Click Accept to authorize the application.

    After successful authorization, you are redirected to the configuration wizard.

    The system displays Jira app details retrieved successfully with the Atlassian app ID and publisher information.

  9. Click Close.

  10. Click Next.

  11. Choose one of the following options for access nodes:

    • Select the region (Preferred): Select the region where the Atlassian Jira data is hosted, and then click Next.

    • Select access nodes: Select your own configured access nodes for performing backups.

      Note

      If the MSP has configured a workload resource pool in a single region and no access node is configured by the tenant, this step will not appear. Access nodes configured in the workload resource pool are selected automatically.

  12. Select a backup plan:

    Select an existing bundled storage plan or create a new bundled storage plan to associate with the Atlassian Jira app.

    Note

    • When creating a new plan, if storage resources are configured in the selected region, the region is automatically populated.
    • If storage resources are not configured in the selected region, select the region manually. In this case, the MediaAgent you provide will be used as the storage MediaAgent.

    Select an existing backup plan or create a new backup plan to associate with the Atlassian Jira app.

  13. Specify the spaces to back up.

  14. In the Content section, review the spaces that you specified.

  15. Review your selections, and then click Submit to complete the configuration.
