Create Air Gap Protect storage to isolate your backup data in a secure, time-based container that prevents unauthorized access and deletion.
About storage containers
When you create Air Gap Protect storage, the new storage has a single container, shown on the Backup locations tab for the storage.
When an Air Gap Protect container reaches 500 TB, it is marked as Full and Commvault automatically creates a new container for the storage. You can also manually create containers.
Location requirements
The storage, MediaAgent, and DDB MediaAgent must be in the same location (region).
In Commvault SaaS, Air Gap Protect storage is created only in backup plans.
In Commvault software, you can create Air Gap Protect storage in backup plans, or you can create it as follows and then select the storage for a backup copy in backup plans:
-
From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Storage > Air Gap Protect.
-
In the upper-right area of the page, click Add.
-
Enter a name for the storage.
-
Select or create a MediaAgent that's in the same location you select for the storage.
-
Select the storage type, class, and location (region).
-
Leave Use deduplication enabled and select a MediaAgent for the deduplication database (DDB) that's in the same location you select for the storage.
-
Click Save.
