Getting Started with Amazon S3 Backups Through Automated Discovery

To get started with Amazon S3 backups through automated discovery, complete the MSP configurations steps, and then perform a backup and restore.

Procedure

1. Complete the scale manager configurations for scale manager for auto-scaling access nodes.

   See MSP Configurations for Amazon Workloads.

   For auto-scaling access nodes, subscribe to the Commvault Linux access-node AMI in AWS Marketplace for the target region.

2. Connect your AWS account and discover resources.

3. Create a protection group for the Amazon S3 object storage that you want to protect. See Protect AWS resources using protection groups.

   After discovery completes, each AWS account is represented as an S3 instance (client) and each S3 object storage in that account is represented as a subclient.

4. Perform a backup.

5. Perform a restore.
