Getting Started with Azure NetApp Files for CIFS

Getting started with protecting Azure NetApp Files includes installing the File System Agent, adding the Azure NetApp Files cloud file share, and then performing a test backup and restore.

Procedure

  1. Verify that your access node meets the software and hardware specifications to back up the CIFS shares and NFS exports.

  2. To back up CIFS shares using Windows access nodes, verify that your environment meets the system requirements for the CIFS shares.

  3. To back up CIFS shares using Linux access nodes, verify that your environment meets the System Requirements for CIFS Backups Using Linux Access Nodes.

  4. To back up NFS exports, verify that your environment meets the system requirements for the NFS exports.

  5. Add the Azure NetApp Files cloud file share.

  6. Install the File System package on the access node (file server)

    To perform snapshot backups, install the MediaAgent package.

  7. Enable IntelliSnap backups for the subclient.

  8. Perform a test backup and restore.
